ABOUT THE BOUTIQUE & OUR MAKERS

Who makes the products you sell?

Every item in our boutique is handmade by an independent artist or maker. We're a mother-and-daughter team based in Anderson, California, and we work directly with each maker whose work we carry — no wholesale, no mass production.

Is everything really handmade?

Yes. Every product is handcrafted by hand, in small batches or one piece at a time. Nothing in our shop is factory-made or drop-shipped.

Why do some items never come back in stock?

Because most of them are genuinely one-of-a-kind. A large share of our pieces exist as a single item — once it sells, that exact piece is gone. If a maker can recreate something similar, we'll say so on the product page.

Can I visit the boutique in person?

Absolutely — we'd love that. You'll find us at 19682 Hirsch Court, Suite 1 & 2, Anderson, CA 96007, open Thursday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

I'm a maker — can I sell my work through your boutique?

Yes! We're always happy to welcome new makers. Artists who sell through the boutique are charged a 15% commission on items sold. Reach out through our Contact page and tell us about your work.

MATERIALS & INGREDIENTS

What materials are your jewelry pieces made from?

It varies by maker. Across our collection you'll find stainless steel, copper, resin, acrylic, glass and stone beads, embroidery thread, leather and faux suede. The exact materials for each piece are listed in its product description.

Are your earring hooks nickel-free?

Some are, and those makers say so directly on the product page. Because each maker sources their own findings independently, we can't promise every piece in the shop is nickel-free. If you have a nickel sensitivity, email us the item you're looking at and we'll confirm with the maker before you buy.

What's in your tallow soaps?

Our tallow soaps are made in small batches with nourishing tallow, coconut oil, olive oil and essential oils. Each bar's scent and full description are on its product page.

Are your products vegan?

Not all of them. Our tallow soaps and balms are made with beef tallow, and some of our skincare contains beeswax. Full ingredients are listed on every skincare and bath product page, so you can check before you order — and if anything is unclear, just ask.

Do your bath and body products list full ingredients?

Yes. Our skincare makers list complete ingredients on every product page — for example, our herbal bath salts are made with dried chamomile and lavender, willow-bark-infused grapeseed oil, Epsom salt, pink Himalayan salt and chamomile lavender essential oil.

What kind of wood do you use?

Our woodworkers use a range of natural hardwoods depending on the piece — olive wood, and other woods chosen for their grain. The wood used is noted in the product description. Because it's natural material, grain and colour differ from piece to piece.

SAFETY, SENSITIVITIES & ALLERGIES

I have sensitive skin. How do I know if a product is right for me?

Every skincare and bath product lists its full ingredients on the product page. We'd always recommend reading those first, patch-testing a small area, and checking with your doctor if you have a known allergy. If you can't find what you need, email us and we'll get the answer from the maker.

Do your products contain common allergens?

Some do. Our soaps and skincare contain ingredients including coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, beeswax, tree-derived botanicals and essential oils. Our textiles include cotton, wool-blend yarns and leather. If you're avoiding something specific, email us before ordering and we'll check for you.

Are your products safe for children?

Our items are made for adults, for the home, and as gifts — we don't test or sell anything as a children's toy. Many pieces contain small parts, and jewellery isn't suitable for young children. Please use your judgement and supervise children around any handmade item.

Are your skincare products FDA approved?

No — and neither is anyone else's. In the United States the FDA does not approve cosmetics, soaps or bath products before they go on sale. What we can tell you is that our makers produce in small batches and list their complete ingredients openly on every product page.

Can I use your bath & body products while pregnant or nursing?

Several of our products contain essential oils. If you're pregnant, nursing, or managing a health condition, please check the ingredient list on the product page and speak to your healthcare provider before use.

CARE & CLEANING

How do I care for handmade jewelry?

Keep it dry, and take it off before showering, swimming or sleeping. Store pieces separately so they don't scratch each other, and wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid perfume, lotion and hairspray directly on the piece.

How do I care for wooden items?

Hand wash only — never put a handmade wooden piece in the dishwasher, and don't leave it soaking. Dry it straight away with a towel rather than letting it air dry, and keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

How should I store handmade soap?

Keep your bar dry between uses on a draining soap dish or in the soap saver bag it came with. Handmade soap holds more natural oils than commercial soap, so sitting in water will soften it and shorten its life.

My item looks a little different from the photo. Is that normal?

Yes, and it's part of what you're buying. Every piece is made by hand from natural materials, so grain, colour and small details vary from one to the next. Screen settings also shift colour slightly. You're receiving a genuinely unique piece, not a copy of the photograph.

Why are the measurements listed as approximate?

Because each piece is shaped by hand rather than cut by machine, small variations between items are normal. We list approximate measurements so you know what to expect, and we're glad to check a specific dimension for you before you order.

SHIPPING, PICKUP & LOCAL DELIVERY

Where do you ship?

We currently ship anywhere within the United States. We're not shipping internationally at this time.

How long will my order take?

Orders are typically processed within 1–3 business days. Orders placed at the weekend or on a holiday are processed on the next business day. Once your parcel is with the carrier, delivery time depends on the service and your location.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your address and the size of your order, so you'll see the exact cost before you pay.

Can I pick up my order in person?

Yes — local pickup is free. Choose Local Pickup at checkout and we'll email you as soon as your order is ready to collect from the boutique at 19682 Hirsch Court, Anderson, during our Thursday and Friday opening hours.

My parcel arrived damaged. What should I do?

We pack every order carefully, but once a parcel leaves us it's in the carrier's hands, and claims for transit damage need to be filed directly with the shipping carrier. Please email us at danielle@makerswarehouseboutique.com as well — send photos and we'll do what we can to help you through the claim.

ORDERS, CUSTOM WORK & RETURNS

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

All of our items are one-of-a-kind handmade creations, so all sales are final and we're unable to accept returns, exchanges or refunds. Please review the photos, measurements and description carefully before ordering — and if you have any question at all about a piece, email us first. We're always happy to send extra photos or measurements.

Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?

Because our items are one-of-a-kind and orders move quickly, we're unable to accept cancellations once an order is placed. If you spot a mistake — a wrong address, for instance — email us straight away at danielle@makerswarehouseboutique.com and we'll help if the order hasn't shipped.

Do you offer custom orders?

Yes! Custom work is one of our favorite things. Pricing and timelines vary depending on the product and the maker. Get in touch through our Custom Orders page and we'll connect you with the right maker for what you have in mind.

How long does a custom order take?

It depends entirely on the piece and the maker's current workload — some items come together in a couple of weeks, others take longer. Your maker will give you a timeline before any work begins. If you need something by a particular date, tell us up front.

Can I ask for a piece in a different color or size?

Often, yes. Many of our makers are happy to adapt a design. Email us the product you have in mind and what you'd like changed, and we'll ask the maker whether it's possible and what it would cost.
